Poached Pears

Ingredients

  • ♡ 1 cup raw sugar
  • ♡ 3 cups of water
  • ♡ 2 Tbls lemon juice
  • ♡ 1 cinnamon stick
  • ♡ 4 cloves
  • ♡ 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • ♡ 4 pears
  • ♡ Double cream to serve

Instructions

  • ♥ Put the sugar and water in a saucepan large enough to hold the upright pears.
  • ♥ Heat the water and sugar over low heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, and add the lemon juice, cinnamon stick, cloves and vanilla extract.
  • ♥ Peel the pears, keeping their stalks attached and slightly cut the base so they can stand in the sauce pan.
  • ♥ Place the pears upright in the saucepan, cover and poach very gently for 45-60 minutes, or until tender. Remove the pears.
  • ♥ Increase the heat and reduce the liquid until it thicken to a syrup
  • ♥ Serve the pears warm or chilled with the syrup and/or double cream.
