What does it really mean to be young? To me, it is about having the ability to eat freely and move easily.

Age in years or fitness?

Many focus on the number of years since birth, without understanding that there is a difference between chronological and metabolic age.

Chronological age is a sequential number, and metabolic age, on the other hand, is related to lifestyle choices, of eating well and exercise.

Numerous studies confirm that you can significantly reduce your metabolic age by eating whole foods and exercise regularly.  Your metabolic age is calculated by taking into account the activity level and amount of body fat versus lean muscle mass.

Lean muscle mass drives metabolism, meaning, the more muscle you have, the more energy (calories) you use and the more you can eat!

Science of Fitness

High-intensity circuit training (HICT) like our Shape-Up and 9 minutes to fitness programs are based exercising at a level where the body is pushed outside it comfort Zone.

It means that long after the exercising is completed, the body continues to expend energy rebuilding the muscles used and regenerating our ability to be able to do it again next time!

The “science of fitness” is a struggle to comprehend because it changes faster than a model at a Vogue fashion fair….. Sincerely, everyday fitness requires only common sense.

One of my favorite Irish expression is  “The problem with common sense is that it is not so common, and enough of it is genius!”

Using common sense

The following are some of my common sense fitness “rules”  that will help you get in shape and stay in shape for years to come:

  • Schedule your day to include exercise and healthy food.
  • Drink water predominately.
  • Eat your fruit and vegetables; drinking juices is not natural, irrespective of the health claims.
  • Exercise without fear and regret; any exercise is better than none if you can’t come to class, give the online exercises a go and call me if you are unsure, I am here to help you.
  • Be kind to yourself, enjoy where you are now, keep exercising, and you can look forward to a fitter and younger self.

Our 9 minutes to fitness program is an easy way to start exercising and regenerate your youth.  Click below for more information and to download your Free 9 minute workout.
