If you have been watching the Olympics and found motivation to get moving, but feel trapped in this lockdown, then I have a solution for you. Race walking! It’s an Olympic sport and permissible in lockdown!

Here are some of the incredible health benefits of race walking for adults that include;

    • Increasing your heart rate to a higher heart rate zone and improves fitness and endurance.
    • Helps with calorie burn and weight management.
    • Strengthens muscles especially in the legs and abdominal muscles.
    • Improves range of motion as well as shifting pressure from your joints to your muscles.
    • Less impact on the joint and builds stronger bones safely

Also, research published in 2014 in the Journal of athletic training, noted relatively low injuries associated with race walking.
